  • Q: What ports are supported, and which port is SSL Enabled?
    All servers currently support using ports 5555, 6666 and 7777, with +7778 for SSL.

    You can get more information on a server at their homepage, which is at www.s*.rdlbnc.com, change * to number.
  • Q: How can I change network?
    Simply go to your control panel, and change the network in there. Check the Terms Of Service for any relevant blacklists.
  • Q: How do I connect to two networks at once?
    This is not possible currently. However you can simply request another bouncer to cover your other network. You can freely have up to 3 bouncers, on 3 different networks (or indeed, the same network if you wish), before you will be asked why you want extras. Be warned, simply adding another network to your network box on your control panel will not work.
  • Q: Can I change my leave message from the default 'Hosted by rdlBNC'?
    Yes.
  • Q: My BNC isn't saving channels correctly, why?
    Go into your control panel, and scroll down to channels. Next to each channel is a tick box, make sure this box is ticked. You may wish to also go to 'modules', and tick 'chansaver' to make sure it automatically does this for future channels you join.
  • Q: How can I change username?
    This is currently not possible. If it is required due to ident security. Such as you used your realname in your username, contact support.
  • Q: Why can I not change my ident?
    This has been disabled due to people using it to evade previous bans. We apologise for this inconvenience. We may offer it at a later date though.
  • Q: I got banned, but my bouncer is constantly trying to reconnect!
    In your connection status window, type /part #channelname. This will remove it from the BNCs channel lists.
  • Q: My bouncer is unable to connect to the network!
    This may be caused by a session limit breach. Most networks only allow a set amount of connections from one IP. It may also be that a specific IP has been banned due to abuse of a previous rdlBNC user. Please contact us with your username & network, and we will put your bouncer on a new IP.
  • Q: How can I have timestamps on playback?
    In your configuration, go to the behaviour panel. Tick on "prepend timestamps". You may also wish to the alter the offsets for the timestamps here too.
  • Q: How can I change my vhost?
    You can't. Your vhost will always be servernumber.rdlbnc.com (Such as s4.rdlbnc.com), or occasionally an IP address. This is for ease of tracking our users accross the many networks, and to not encourage ban evasions.
  • Q: What is the privacy policy?
    Due to the nature of 'free' things, many people do seek out to abuse them, so we do have a few privacy things in place. Please read the Privacy Policy
  • Q: What IRC clients do you support?
    Generally speaking, any client will work with our bouncers. However officially we support mIRC, X-Chat & IRSSI. Other clients probably work, but we won't offer official support for them if you contact us.
